John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania State Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He is Past-President of the Board of Directors for the NYSSCPA Suffolk Chapter and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors as Chapter Representative for Suffolk.  John is also a Committee member for the Management of an Accounting Practice, Sponsorship, Scholarship and Employee Benefits Committees for the NYSSCPA Suffolk Chapter.  He is also a member of the Long Island Chapter of the Institute for Management Accountants. John is a registered representative who has passed the FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams and also holds a New York State Life and Health Insurance License.

John joined AVZ as a manager in 1996, was promoted to Principal in 2004, and to Partner in 2007.  Internally, he is a member of the Firm’s Quality Control Committee where he is responsible for the Firm’s Peer Review, updating the firm on newly issued accounting and auditing standards as well as the firm’s internal monitoring program.  He is also responsible for monitoring and managing the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice.  He is an accomplished author, writing various articles based on his expertise.

John received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania in 1985.
